Balsam Bengué contains two active substances: menthol and methyl salicylate. Menthol, when applied to the skin, dilates blood vessels, causing a feeling of cold and then an analgesic effect. Methyl salicylate, when applied to the skin, has an irritant and rubefacient action (skin redness), in addition to the analgesic (pain relief) and anti-inflammatory actions characteristic of salicylates.
What it is used for: Balsam Bengué is indicated for the relief of rheumatism (a group of diseases that affect the joints, muscles and skeleton), neuralgia (acute pain that can affect one or more nerves), torticollis, bruises and pain relief muscles.
